Mountain Home, Idaho
Mountain Home is a high desert community in southwestern
Idaho near the Oregon and Nevada borders.
It lies in a temperate but dry valley adjoining the Snake River just
below the beautiful mountains Idaho is famous for. It has a population of about 14,000 with an
additional 3,300 living on the nearby Mountain Home AFB. Much of the town is a bedroom community for
businesses connected to the base and for nearby Boise (pronounced BOYSEE not
BOYZEE), the capital of Idaho. Lying on
the route of the old Oregon Trail and present day I-84 it has easy highway access.
